Charity Drives:
Every year members of the HHCC are invited to participate in our three charity drives:
Salvation Army located in Danbury. This drive helps deliver warmth and cheer during the holiday season. (image on right from 1st HHCC donation ever made to Salvation Army; 2002.)If there is great interest for the group to take on another charity, members are encouraged to present it to the body for voting. Individual charity giving is encouraged, and yarn from the group's "Yarn Bank" may be awarded.
Classes, Workshops, and Field Trips:
The HHCC presents various how-to classes, Workshops with designers (such as: Melissa Leapman, Maire Treanor, Lily Chin, Doris Chan, and Margaret Hubert), and field trips from time to time.
Field trips include "Yarn Shop Hops," Stitches East, NY Sheep & Wool Festival, MA Sheep & Wool Festival, and more.
Demonstrations:
The HHCC takes great pride in promoting the art of crochet, ususally offering free beginner lessons at these events. Some of the events the HHCC has demonstrated at:
Casual Gatherings:
A monthly gathering at the Borders book store located in Brookfield is held, non~members are welcomed to participate! These gatherings take place on the 1st Wednesday of every month, in the morning from 10:00 AM - Noon, and in the evening from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. As of March, 2009, a second monthly morning gathering has started, meeting on every 3rd Wednesday of the month from 10:00 AM - Noon.
